So sit back, and read on as your games update. Earlier this month when I reviewed Gotham City Imposters , I noted that the game really needed a patch. Fortunately the developers over at Monolith have been teasing some free DLC since the game’s release. In addition to some new content and maps the main feature of this incoming free DLC is supposed to be drop-in matchmaking. It is understandable that Monolith would include this feature in a DLC pack so as not to draw the ire of the multiplayer shooter community for releasing a game that is missing a key feature but face it, this is a classic case of developer misdirection. You get this shiny Katana, a new map, and some fun new costumes. These are in no way actual quotes from actual players or in anyway quotes from Monolith the developers of Gotham City Impostors. It’s simply my example of the dialogue that I feel has been had with GCI’s players at least according to my brain. I really wish they’d give players more credit. Even in the video posted above they’re trying to make drop-in matchmaking seem like a big feature.
Bad matchmaking or nobody playing this on Steam?
Our review of Gotham City Impostors went live earlier this week, and in it Tim identified two major flaws: matchmaking errors and a lack of maps and match types.
It could be forgiven for a lot of flaws for solid gameplay and a general lightness of tone. The PC matchmaking system is apparently very broken, complaints have been popping up numerously on the Steam forums about a crashing or simply horrifically slow matchmaking experience. Some have even gone so far to start demanding refunds for their game. It appears that PC gamers will have to wait for a functioning game system with Gotham City.
Wil Taylor. My name is Wil Taylor, an ex-rabid Nintendo fanboy until only a few years ago, a crazy man in a crazy hat showed me that games could be much more than Mario. I buckled up tight and gripped my respective controllers and decided that I was going to come up along-side the new wave of gaming and focus on the interactive mediums. Because seriously, how often does humanity discover an entirely new medium for art?

B unit , 21 Feb 16 Jun From the very first cutscene, Gotham City Imposters immediately separates itself from plethora of rather mundane shooters which have flooded the market over the past decade. The Basics : Aside from a short tutorial and a limited challenge mode, Gotham Imposters is strictly multiplayer only. Neither of these objective gametypes revolutionize the FPS genre, but the unique twists presented through both the toxic gas spewing domination points, and the struggle over a battery to power a propaganda machine serve as humorous means to distinguish the experience from your standard shooter’s offering.
Players can choose from such exciting weapons as bottle rocket launchers, boomerangs, katanas, energy drinks, glider rigs, electrical gnomes, magic conch shells, even a freakin bear HUMAN trap. Every class comes equip with any two weapons, a gadget, a support item, two fun facts perks , a rampage pointstreak , and an exp. The customization in Gotham City is wonderfully addictive. The true beauty is that nothing is ever routine. Every single gadget and support item is so unique that while Gotham Imposters cannot boast a large number of options in any category 14 weapons, around 10 weapon mods in total, and only 7 gadgets changing even a single weapon or gadget is virtually guaranteed to dramatically alter your play style.
Brilliantly, this extreme diversity between customization options keeps individual games from going stale. Every match will pit you against new enemies, with wildly varied stratagies, and will demand quick out of the box thinking to determine the best counter strategy. My advice thus, is to experiment, Gotham Imposters is an entirely new experience for most FPS players and falling into a routine becomes quite tiresome.
MMO Burnout: Revisiting Gotham City Impostors
Initially controversial for its Batman-themed gameplay Batman would never tolerate a Batman vs. Jokerz gang war , the game has since won over many gaming sites , with CA contributor Andy Yen praising the public Beta for fun gameplay and thoughtful executions of its concept. ComicsAlliance got in touch with Gotham City Impostors lead game designer Craig Hubbard to learn more about what went into creating the first ever Batman-themed shooter.
Learn more about the creation of GCI, its comic book ties and more after the cut. ComicsAlliance: Can you give us a little background regarding how Gotham City Impostors came to be and how Monolith became involved with the game? Craig Hubbard: We were between projects and didn’t have a big enough team to make a full-fledged game, so we latched onto the idea of a downloadable multiplayer game.
This is caused by the laggy matchmaking system. It’s not the first time I find this type of lobbies in GfWL online games, and it sux. It’s quite hard to find active.
Read this massive legal agreement before playing! And this one! We know it’s a pain, you’ll be playing soon. Now create a Warner Bros. Checking for downloadable content Class-based shooter Gotham City Impostors snuck out of Warner’s back door earlier this week, which strikes you as unusual for a first-person shooter based on one of the biggest licenses around and made by Monolith, developers of Condemned and FEAR.

You can, for example, soar in the air and then launch yourself at a person to damage or kill them. I bought it yesterday and am enjoying it. I do not have any experience with TF2, but have played lots of Call of Duty and Bioshock 2 to compare. I really enjoy the emphasis on using height, with all of the different toys you can use to obtain it, from the glider allowing you to soar ahead and dive on your opponents, to spring shoes allowing you to jump or double jump from about anywhere.
The weapons and most of the upgrades are fairly run-of-the-mill with a few nice twists in there, like my gun mod that points out nearby enemies via smell stink clouds appear where they are, even if they are behind corners.

The game was Gotham City Imposters and I was extremely excited to download and start working on the achievements. I installed it and played through the tutorial and then tried to enter matchmaking. There wasn’t a single game to connect to or a single person even in the lobby. I sat in matchmaking for several hours thinking it was just the servers or my connection and then found out from the GCI website that GFWL version is no longer being supported. Why is a game that can’t be played on the very first page of PC Games???
I might have just thrown my money away and saved myself the headache. I feel like I have been deceived and even ripped off. I would really appreciate anything you could do to rectify the situation. Did this solve your problem? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. I’ve already been through the sites FAQ. My issue is that a Multiplayer focused GFWL PC game that has no Multiplayer servers or support is still not only available to buy, but is also on the first page of choices as well.
